I will be there as well to hang out with some friends and possibly drive a car if its finished in time. Be cool to seeing what that R will do. From what I have read about the gearing I think fifth is your best bet either way with stock HP.

That is what I am thinking too. I am tempted to pick up a 3lb pulley before I go, but I don't know what the car will do in the heat.

Mike, ya can pop on a 3 lb pulley. Let the car cool down and place two bags of ice on charge coolers, and spray cold water through lower bumber-grill aimed at intercooler. This will give you a very cool-dense air charge for a strong start on your mile. Ya may not transfer the heat as quickly if performing this duty prior to setting out on the mile. A freer flowing exhaust also will build up less heat too. Don't wear engine cover.

Well looking over a lot of data from the last event, I think I will be able to hit 160-165 based upon looking at some other cars. There are quite a few GT500s that are running 175+, and an E39 M5 doing 155. I think if I get the pulley and exhaust done before I go 160+ is an attainable number.

Mike, I hit 125+ in "no time" soon after stabbing the pedal at 75 mph...with a lot more power in reserve to pull her through the entire speedometer range. Put that 3 lb. pulley, "Mafioso" air intake elbow, low temp. thermostat, and manifold back exhaust mod on, and you'll swear she'll do 170+ mph. Not kidding.

Hey guys, before you do an event like this make certain of your tires OK?
Good brakes are handy too! LOL
If you don't know the entire history of the tires meaning you bought them and there have been zero repairs then toss them out and get new ones. I know this isn't a very long run but it's just not worth the risk.
I'll tell you a little story about the first time I ran the Nevada Silver State race. The night before the race my wife and I had dinner with another couple who like us were running the race the next day. He had just bought a Testarossa with 4K miles on it. The next morning they went off the course with a blow-out at 190mph. Five hours later (after the air abulance and coroner were done) when we went by that car was the size of a card table. He was thrown through the windshield and survived his wife did not and was burned to death in the car. He didn't know the tires from day one and perhaps a repair or some other mishap is why he had a blowout. No one will ever know for certain. I'll never forget it and consequently I don't f*ck around with safety.
If the car is indeed limited to 155 I doubt that you can get by it. It would be a huge leagl issue for Jaguar. It also means that the tires probably aren't rated for higher speed with that vehicle. Tire load ratings change dramatically when your speed increases at those levels. Check with the tire manufacturer and Jaguar first. This car should be capable of a lot more than 155 unless it's a GD brick at speed? My 4,000lb 300hp Q45 reached 161 in Nevada at almost 5000 ft of elevation so I think that the Jag is capable of a lot more.
The short run nature of this event really helps with this issue but heat can also be a factor so hopefully it won't get too damn hot this early in the year.
Have fun, take pictures and video to show us how you did.

chrislynn5, my rear struts have almost 100k on them, causing the rear to wiggle and shakes at high speeds. The stock CAT struts (front were placed on 4 months ago) are coming off to be replaced with aftermarket high performance struts. I'm checking with BRUTAL before this swap is performed. He mentioned disconnecting the CAT module won't set off a CEL.
