Default Traded the Jag I guess this means farewell...

It was a long day went and test drove the Mercedes CLS550 and BMW 750 and ended up with a gorgeous 2008 BMW 750i Fully loaded! It is Monaco Blue with White leather and black lining. The dealer gave us a great trade for the Jaguar and were a pleasure to deal with!

It is certainly sad to see the Jag go as I thought I would have that car until the wheels fell off but after the Throttle body issue I was worried that it would create a domino affect and it was time to trade it in.

Thank You to everyone on these forums that have helped me with the many questions I have had! It has been a pleasure and i do not think that will be the last Jag we own.

Nice choice. If I had another $5-6k to spend when I got my Jag, I likely would've ended up with an 06 750i sport. Looking back, I still have no regrets with the Jag, so it worked out well for me anyways.

Isn't going from a Jaguar to a BMW like going from the frying pan into the fire?

Once you've had a Jaguar, they keep drawing you back.

Hope you get a good deal on the BMW when you trade it for your next Jaguar.

Maybe depends on whether you get lucky and/or were unlucky. All that counts to an individual owner is their own experience with the particular cars they own. One bad experience can put someone off a brand, however unlucky they may have been. Just human nature.

I had spoken to several mechanics all who recommended the BMW's as well as a few friends who will only own BMW. We received two years free maintenance and also will be purchasing the extended warranty. But the car was a corporate car that was driven low miles and immaculately taken care of. Including a full history of on time servicing. So in terms of being taken care of that should eliminate many of the failures that come from lack of care at least. Having This is the third day of the car and we could not be happier with the decision. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking in that segment. The ride is amazing and I love that it does not drive numb like the lexus. It is smooth yet very sporty and the power is great. You look down and dont realize your doing 95 mph on the freeway lol. I do miss the jaguar though such a great car and I hope it will be a great car for the next owner. The dealer said if it made it through their 180 point inspection they would keep it on their lot.

I've owned 3 BMWs including 2 7-series, and I must agree with you on the ride. For a big car, the ride is very surprising especially if you are used to a Cadillac or Lexus feel. I would also not hesitate to buy a BMW again if I found the right one.

Completely used to the Cadillac CTS and escalade ride as well as the Lexus RX330 and Lexus LS460 ride and the Jags of course. I have to say... I just got home from driving with some friends across town the car continues to amaze me.. It is like nothing i have driven before. It is just so smooth and almost makes you want to be gentle and then you press the gas and it just goes so simply but very quickly for a car of its size... I am almost a little upset because I am ruined now and now i very much dislike driving our Lexus... I love the Lexus but the acceleration and noise and materials just cant even touch the BMW. Im thinking maybe the Lexus is next and we might have to get a 5 series? hmmmmm

As a dealer, wait until you need some things fixed on that BMW which will come in short order. You like it now, but not for long.

Congrats on the 750i! Research the 07 up Jaguar XKR. This is an affordable and beautiful beast that'll be a huge switch for the days you require something besides the BMW.

+1 on that.

I have a friend who had a very bad one year experience with a Jag years ago. He won't ever think about one again even though he's had all sorts of issues with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. We were at a Jag sponsored slalom event and he just had to say something ...

I've found it never does any GOOD to dump on other people's choices of vehicles.

But people feel compelled to do it all the time on forums ... sigh.

This is very very true.

That XKR would be a nice beast to look at in the future. When we were on the lots last saturday I found a 2009 Jaguar XF for $34,000 that was stunning. I think it had 30,000 miles. But after the S-type and Xj8 being in the family my mom said it was time to take a break from Jag . I have to say though I truly wish we would have traded our Lexus RX and have kept the Jaguar. I miss the way it drives and the interior was a 10 hands down. Not to mention the premium sound system. I just have to remind myself all that is great but ours was on its way out....

I must say I miss the Jag a ton! The BMW is amazing nothing wrong there but I truly wish the Jag didnt have the issues it did! Most of the time I have been driving our Lexus RX330 and I wish we would have traded it in and kept the Jag. That obviously was not an option due to the issues with the Jag; however, I miss looking down and seeing that Jaguar emblem staring at you haha! The lexus is a great car but bugging me after driving the Jag for so long! I got the short end of the stick... My car gets traded in and I barely get to drive the one that replaced it!
