The car needs to be driven according to a "Transmission Base Adaptions" procedure.

It is listed in a Tech Tips from June 2003.

It is not a mileage thing but I guess it will be completed eventually if you just drive.

Follow the procedure to speed up the adaptation.

Bob, I already have that and later stuff but it's all long before IDS got the new adaption feature, isn't it?

So is it actually redundant now IDS has it?

I left the dealer in 2006 and we used this when I was there. When I clear adaptations with my WDS I set them this way. I don't know if IDS actually SETS the adaptation or just monitors it to speed up the process.

OK.

I understand you can drive the car with IDS hooked up and (a passenger!) can watch the adaptions as they take place. Quite easy to get them all done. I think that's what every dealer is supposed to do.

Thank you again for the valuable knowledge pertaining to this subject. The car continues to shift flawlessly right now and not one Lurch yet!!...so I will definitely drive in normal mode for the initial 200 miles before trying out sport shift...thanks again
