Default Transmission Light

Any idea why my transmission light would come on? Its that orange squarish light. I was told it was a transmission light. We were just cruising and it came on. We werent getting on it or anything. Any info will be appreciated.

Are you sure it was the transmission light? The display will normally say something as well. For example I has DSC Fault come across before, and I wanted to see what fault message you received.

Any codes would help as well. That is when you will get more responses and help. If you do not have a way to check let us know maybe someone lives close to you that could help or possibly you could go to a local store for them to read the codes for free like a Autozone or something, then post the codes.

No codes or messages. Just that orange square looking light.

sorry snake, if the transmission light, or check engine light is illuminated, there will be at least one code stored. You'll need an OBDII scanner, or as recommended above by cyberpanther, Autozone, O-reilys, or your favorite auto parts store will read them no charge.

There is no transmission light. If the car had thrown a trans code, you'd have the message "gearbox fault" displayed.

What you are describing is a check engine light. As decribed earlier you need to get the car to an obd II code scanner to give you an idea of what's going on.

Where are you located btw?

Take care,

George
