Transmission needs service? Help!
Purchased a 2000 S type 4.2 Seller has a very detailed service records.
He had stated that there was some shift issues only after 3-4 hours of driving.
Seller is a very well to due business man in Carmel CA. Car is immaculate to say the least so i believe what i heard and still do. Any way what i am now hearing and feeling 4 four days after the purchase is from 1st to 2nd gear a slight lag, low volume low desible whirl. Very slight but i am very sensitive to any nose, granted the car is new to me. So i figure from the post i have read it is time for a filter and fluid change. After reviewing all service records this has never been performed. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thank you

There are alot of thread concerning the 5R55N transmission in the early S types. As far as what your problem is I dont know but I'm sure its been discussed and hopefully resolved. If I find a specific thread I'll post it.

You have the 4.0 with the Ford 5 speed trans., which had issues. The 4.2 didn't come into service till 2003 and was coupled with the ZF 6 speed trans. Tell the "well to do business man" to replace the torque converter and R&R the transmission.
