Default transmission thump

Hi everyone

i have a slight problem with my 2005 s type

when i slow down (1 or 2 mph) coming to a light or stop sign.
If i don't come to a full stop before i accelerate, when i accelerate i feel a "lunging" effect and a slight "thump' noise

i thought it might be a brake not releasing at the same time as the other brakes

also i thought it might be the transmission not fully shifting through the cycle quick enough (the transmission performs fine, except for this situation....and it's not all the time

can anybody advise as to what it might be, and offer a solution

thanks

Classic signs of 'the lurch'- a very well known problem. A reflash of the transmission software might/might not fix it. There's dozen of posts on the subject.

Also, an ATF drain-and-fill may or may not improve the issue. As previously mentioned, research "the lurch" here and draw your own conclusion regarding how to proceed. How many miles on your odometer?

And to add another scenario, it possibly could be a slight vacuum leak. Have you had the codes read?

I have an. '03 so it has the ZF transmission. Lurches sometimes, but when I'm at about half way on the accelerator, when the trans shifts from 1st gear to second , I hear a " whoot" noise!

Have to get trans fluid changed soon, 79k miles now.

You have the classic "ZF squawk". The clutch packs are grabbing and causing your squawk due to the friction modifiers in your ATF wearing out. An ATF drain-and-fill with the appropriate fluid silences the squawk the vast majority of the time....

The hoot and lurch are two different dances. There's a third type which is seen at moderate speeds with a cold trans. only.

Each has a different fix.
