Default Trim above door coming adrift

Hi Gang,

I have spotted a problem on my wife's 2003 S-Type R. There run of trim above the doors and at the passenger side rear it's coming away from the body. It looks like the plastic clips have degraded and broken. See pics below. I am reluctant to pull the trim off further without knowing how the trim attaches.

Questions:
  1. Does anyone know what these clips look like (not broken).
  2. Can anyone describe the correct procedure for removing the trim without breaking more of the clips.
  3. Can anyone point me to a source for new clips.
  4. Can anyone describe the correct procedure for refitting the trim.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers ... Phil Usher

They can be a bugger to handle, so take your time and be gentle. The FAQ is very good so I think you'll be fine. Just to note, I had one spot where the trim had pulled off a little bit due to a broken clip, I used a small hand held tube of silicone caulking with just the very end cut off for precision and caulked the joint. I then used blue painter's tape and wrapped the trim very tightly (window down obviously), clean up any excess, and let it sit overnight. Has held just fine - may be a solution if you are only needing to spot fix an area rather than taking the entire piece off.
