Well to be truthful, I've got kind of a lead foot. I'm was used to driving a S/C Mustang and a late model Z28. I just didn't care for the creature comforts of the formers. The Jag was a loaner from a buddy selling it while I was between cars and I fell in love with the goodies and bought it. Now I just keep driving it like a Z so it sucks up fuel pretty well. I did get it on the highway on a 60 mile trip a few days ago and damned if I didn't see the instantaneous mileage hovering around 7 to 8L/100km. I used to get that with the Z too but not nearly with as much class and comfort (or quiet).

My Jag's stablemate is now a 2010 Honda CRV 2WD with the 180 HP 2.4 4 cylinder I-VTEC engine. EPA highway for the Honda is 28 MPG. On business trips the best the Honda has done so far is 25 MPG. My Jag with the 4.2 smokes this Honda on fuel economy.

As I've reported before, on my wife's long interstate drives back and forth to Tampa to visit her parents she routinely averages 33 to 34 mpg with cruise set on 72 to 74 mph and running the HVAC system on auto mode regardless of the time of year. I never would have believed this was possible if anyone had tried to tell me this prior to owning the car. Just one more unexpected benefit to stealing this S-Type during the most miserable depths of the economic depression in December 2008....

With all the talk about the good mileage we get with our Jags.Upon surfing the UK Jag forum I was amazed at the number of guys who have or are considering going to propane.
The cost to convert is quite expensive.I wonder if the reason is more to do with the cost of fuel than the mileage they get on petrol.
Has anyone in N.America heard of a Jag on propane or if it is even available over here?

Back in the 80's I was with a company that decided to convert 300 of our trucks to propane. The thought was due to the cost of the fuel and its cleaner emissions we would increase our MPG and decrease down time.
It worked in reverse. The vehicles would not start if the temp was at or below freezing, the additives in the fuel gummed up the carburation system and the fuel would not flow until warmed up.Also it had become very popular with fleet companies so the price started to get near the petrol price.
We switched to deisel after a few costly years and took a big hit with these used trucks that nobody wanted.
I am sure with todays technology the bugs have been worked out.
