Default Trunk weirdness!

So today I take the kids to school, go to pop the trunk and nothing happens when I push the internal trunk release. I stop the car, all the doors are in the unlocked position and the release button on the trunk itself doesn't work either... so I have to pop it using the remote. Anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, maybe it's because I'm calling it a trunk and not the boot!

i think someone else had the same problem recently.

one suggestion was to check the valet switch....other than that i think it came down to a bad connection in the dash switch

What I have noticed is if you have stuff in your glove box, it's real easy for something in the glove box to press the valet switch when you close the door.

This happens quite a bit to people I've talked to, myself being one of them (unfortunately)when I had just bought the car. The dealer had not even showed me the switch and you cant really see it that well. I was in for my first oil change and the dealer spent about an hour on it trying to figure out the issue and eventually gave up and told me to come back with an appointment to spend some real time on it. The next day I randomly found it in the manual when I was browsing through and problem was fixed......one of those moments....
