Default Ugh - now brakes.

My to-do list keeps growing. Guess I should have expected that.

So I bought it with about 90k. Immediately identified a transmission leak. ~$200 and 4 hrs of work later the leak appears to have been fixed and trans seems to be shifting a little nicer. Will probably do a drain/fill in the next few thousand miles as the fluid looked pretty dirty and the pan was original.

Next I noticed the front brakes appeared to be "dusting" at a rate I've never seen before. Clean on Monday. Covered with gray on Friday. So I pulled a wheel. I have never seen pads so thin. I mean a mm or 2 (probably just a mm) of friction material left before it's backplate to rotor. I've only seen one pad thinner and it was gone due to a siezed pin.
90k is a lot on a set of pads, but I've replaced pads at 40-50k with a LOT more friction material left. Wondering if they're original? Rotors appear quite thin as well.
Unfortunately, the pads are not stocked locally so I have a set in the mail -- picking up rotors at the local Advance. I'm not sure exactly how fast pads wear, but they're so thin I'm genuinely concerned they might not make it through the next 4 days when the parts show up and I'll be able to do the repair.

And of course I don't imagine the rears are in much better shape.

Tires on this thing suck too -- that'll be cheap.
At least they're just 16's.

Left upper ball joint boot's punctured. Still grease in it but it'll be a problem if I don't do something about it soon. Not doing the a-arm for now. Going to see about a replacement boot - at least temporarily.

I JUST sold my Aviator with new front rotors, pads and $600 tires with about 3k mi on them, and fresh off a transmission service/minor repair. This karma thing isn't working out for me.

I admire the way the brakes are set up on these cars. Most straightforward front brake setup I've ever worked on.
Lefts were thinner than rights.

I found what you did. Easiest 4 wheel brake job on earth. I ordered an Amazon kit and it only took a few hours to do everything and check everything.
