Probably a dumb question, but....

The STR came with staggered wheels (8" wide fronts and 9.5" wide rears). Anyone know if the 9.5" rears would fit in the front? For the 18" Vulcan wheels, that would mean trying to squeeze the rear 275/35HR18 tires/wheels up front in place of the specified 245/40HR18 front tires/wheels.

I'm guessing that there would be fitment issues (scrubbing on full steering lock?, fouling the hardware?,....). Unless the factory was just trying to save a couple of quid per car on the smaller standard front tires....

Like I said - dumb. But for grins, has anyone tried to fit their rear STR wheels on the front?

 

No idea...The other thing to consider is the suspension was engineered and I'm not sure how it would react to the wider and heavier tire...

 

No clue but one way to find out.

RE: factory idea - I think perhaps if anything it might be the opposite - the front wheel size were deemed inadequate for the rear to put power down. I can attest to that, the dumbasses that I bought my STR from had the same size tires on front and back ( I demanded new tires as part of the deal and this was their passive aggressive way of hosing me) and you can cook the rears all night long with basically no effort. I've now fitted the proper size and noticed a big difference in traction. Perhaps the factory found the same.
