Hey guys, new to the forum. Just purchased yesterday the 2006 STR that Joycesjag (Rick) posted about to get your input on. Thanks again for all the great input as it assisted me with the purchase.
Any idea where I can get the best deal on a current navigation DVD? Got the car yesterday afternoon and realized the nav disc was the original.
Thanks !!

I have an automatic daily search on Ebay for the latest one by product ID number. It never shows anything.
It may be that those listing don't include the product number in the the listing.
The best I ever saw was $150 but I missed out on that one.
Be sure of what you're buying. You can get the latest version's product number either from Naviteq or Jaguar.
Expect to pay $200 as there are no discount outlets for this product.
I expect that they'd sell a lot more updates and make more money if the dropped the price to $75 - $100.

Do not buy a greymarket update Navigation DVD including, but not limited to, copies, and old versions on fleaBay. Why not? It's simple really, when you install the new DVD it upgrades the firmware on the Head Unit and if it fails and/or is faulty now you are in world of hurt.
Grab the one offered for $100 or bite the bullet and send $200 to Navteq.
This advice is worth exactly what ya paid for it...

@ The Chris X...the DVD is yours if you need it, thanks for offering to me first. Just got the car so it is not my top priority yet, just want to see if there were alternative options. I have a Garmin, but seems strange to have NAV in the car and not use it.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Will probably do some small mods 1st before I worry about the NAV.

Careful on the supposed genuine ebay ones. I bought a NAV DVD on ebay and it totally looked like the real thing. I put it in my car and got a disc read error. I then took it to the dealer to try in another car with the same result; they had a very close look at it and told me it was a very good copy. I got them to put it in writing and emailed a scan of that letter to the ebay seller. Got a sorry and refund immediately, under threat of legal action.
I still reported them to Navteq once I got the refund and purchased the $300 original. latest NAV DVD directly from Navteq (I got a $50 discount for turning in the counterfeiter).
Just bite the bullet and go to Navteq. One thing I seem to recall is that they update the DVD's yearly, sometime in November if I am not mistaken, you might to call and ask when the new one is coming out....
