Upgrading the wood on dashboard, console, ceiling etc on S Type R
Was never a fan of the original S Type R dashboard.
It has too much plastic and not enough wood, unlike the original 1960's S Type which even had a crazy and one of a kind clock built into the glove box door!
Managed to find some aftermarket faux wood panels that matched close enough to the birdseye maple and couldn't be more pleased with the finished product.
Had this done a few years back and the original provider is not around but I'm sure there are some still kicking around.
The fit was absolutely flawless AND in addition to the console and dash elements it even came with roof instruments panels, cup holder well and door opening surrounds! Close to 20 pieces total.
Probably the the best of upgrades I've done on the vehicle.
1968 S Type Boring dash, before customization dash after lights, roof/garage console after door latch surround after side vent surround after cup holder well after

(The original S Type of the 60’s did indeed have acres of beautiful wood, but there was no clock set in the glovebox door. The clock was in its then-normal place, at the bottom of the tach gauge, just visible in that same photo).
The tricky part was matching the wood grain, but found one pretty close.
In hindsight I should have left it out in the sun for a few days to pale the color down a bit but that's just me being OCD and it's likely challenging to perfect match it.
Up close you cannot tell it's not wood. It's even got the same gloss finish.

You are correct on the clock bit. The only image I had of an original is included so they must have customized that one as well.
