My 03 STR ( chasis M64893 w/ 80k miles) is under going a refesh plan and making good progress until the front devloped aknock. I thought ( guessed) it was swaybay bushings and blithfully secured the bushings. When I got into the replacement, I found they were actually in fair condtion and the knock was likley the movement of the upper control arm on a failed bushing.
There is a Jag part # for the left and right arm, XR802284 and 5 but none for the bushing.
Are my sources correct that I am compeled to replace ( $400.00 each) the entire arm? I see several posibiliies such as Lemforder #WO133-1849614 and some used ones. I am unsure about the Lemforder as they do not refernce a chasis number and replaceing my used ones for $350.00 used units makes no sense.
Is there a bushing replacement or viable alternative? One race mechanic suggested I just fill the bushing voids with hard rubber wedges or inject a epoxy.
