Default Used Car Help

I have the opportunity to pick up a S Type for a song. it's a 2001 with 6 cyl and 140,000 KMS on ot. Black on Silver with all the toys, Climate, Roof, heated Seats etc. It is filing the Drive Clean test we require in Ontario, Any suggestions how to correct this. It migh need a Catalytic converter perhaps but the rest of the exhaust seems fine. Only small issue is the battery drains overnight so that has to be a short somewhere?? And it definably needs rear brakes

What should I look for. Are there knows trouble issues with this car?

On balance..........leave it alone.
2001, not a good year.
Emissions prob..........expensive.
More faults you don't know about?
Why so cheap?
If you're an experienced mechanic with insider-knowledge of Jags., and it really IS cheap, you've plenty of time, you like a gamble, and all the rest -- ok THINK about it for a good while. And if you take long enough thinking, something better might well come along...

All older S-types go for a (comparative) song. Let the seller fix the bo-bos and then see how much he wants compared to other S-types.

I agree with Leedsman and Mikey. I was anxious to pick up an S-type as well but decided to hold off until the perfect one came along. It's more than worth the wait. Leave the ones with issues alone. There's plenty of great deals out there on quality, later model S-types.

Cheers!

sorry to be a downer but this is one of those cars you would do well to walk away from
and I normally say have a go and see if its worth it , but I agree with Mikey let the seller sort it out and price the finished car accordingly.
