hi all, another newby here and loving the site, i have a problem with my s type diesel, i had a warning message saying abs fault/no dsc, i was hoping it was just a wheel sensor, then i have a message saying reduced performance, however the car drives normally!! I did have a flat battery a couple of weeks ago or is this a red herring? worried about costs as i have literaly just took early retirement...typical, any ideas, cheers

Hedgehog,
You may just have answered your own question. The battery needs to be fully charged at all times and well maintained.
You could try the hard reset to get rid of any warnings but make sure you have the code for the radio first.
Just disconnect the battery leads and touch them together for about 20 seconds.
Also worth remembering, even if the car is in a garage make sure you lock the car and set the alarm. This puts the car to sleep and reduces the drain on the battery.

Hope this helps.

+1 on battery.

If it's the original 2004 battery, it's on borrowed time after eight years.

Varta batteries fitted by Jaguar to UK spec vehicles have the manufactured date stamped into the top of negative terminal post:

The code is WW-YY for Week Number and Year. This example is Week 23 in 2012.

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO UK

If you intend to go for a new OE Varta battery, in July 2012 these were £121.28 + VAT from the dealer.

Jaguar take unsold new batteries back from the dealers after a few months and replace them so stock is always fresh. The returned ones are disposed of through the aftermarket.

Try this link for a substantial discount on these:

12v 80ah 700 Amps Varta Car Battery - Jaguar Parts

And the higher rated:

12v 950 AMP 90AH RC150 VARTA Car Battery - Jaguar Parts

I couldn't find anything lower cost at the time I needed one.

Go to an auto parts store and buy a new (correct) battery. No big deal and money saved.
