Warning Noise After Setting ParkBrake

Warning Noise After Setting ParkBrake
Vehicle: 2007 S-Type 4.2 with 21,945 miles
After turning off the ignition and setting the ParkBrake, a warning sounds (Bip, bip, bip...) lasting about 10 seconds.
This warning occurs regardless if the key is in the ignition or not; if the door is open or not; or even if the red ParkBrake is 'on' on the dash.
Cannot find this issued addressed in the owner's manual.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Any recommended fixes?

Might be thinks trans is not in P.
Most likely if so is that the 2 bolts on trans side for the shifter cable are loose/missing. Check them anyway as they are prone to coming loose and you'll be stranded if so.
Or could be misaligned microswitch for the shift lever itself.
(Or maybe one of the footbrake switches?)

Are you able to manually set the parking brake after turning off the ignition? I would think that the transmission selector has to be in Park to turn off the ignition and therefore the EPB would automatically engage. I do understand that you can manually engage or disengage the parking brake with the engine off with the foot on the brake pedal? Some folks on this forum advocate manually setting the parking brake before selecting Park when on a hill to avoid stressing the shift linkage ( an apparent weak point on many Jaguars including my 1972 XJ6).
