Default Water leaking in the trunk

Has anyone experienced water leaking in the spare tire well?

I've notice a small amount of water in the spare tire and battery well on my 05 S-Type after driving it in the rain. Is this common and are there any solutions that someone can share?

Now, are any other parts of the trunk wet or is it just inside the tire and battery well?

I remember a few years back my BMW had a similar issue but the whole trunk was also moist. The glue holding the rubber seals along the trunk lid were coming off. I did a cheap fix with some super glue (haha).

Only the tire and battery well. The lined part of the trunk is dry. All my seals are intact and in good shape. I checked the underneath the exterior and found no open holes or missing plugs. I did notice some water drops on the rear wall but can not isolate where it comes from.

hi
had the same prob
water came from bumper bolts under the plastic covering boot latch
put black silicon as temporary fix
have to remove bumper for proper fix as old rubber or silicon washer or whatever sealing on the outside was used is hardened and cracked

cheers

That's not the usual, I really urge the OP to look at other threads.

agree , lot of other areas to lookk at , like trunk sealing rubber , leakage from lights
but the final solution if u cant find it was by BRUTAL i likes , punch the rubbers at bottom of trunk , it lets the water out and keep electricals out of trouble

many have found a solution too ,

as jag v8 suggests , search on it , this great forum has lots and lots of info on it

I had this problem when I bought my 02 S-type. The plug right next to the spare had been removed. I had no idea why that would be done outside of a mafia movie scenario. Luckily, I located the plug in a far corner and replaced it.
