Water Pump Replacement (was: pump outlet hose leaking)

Water Pump Replacement (was: pump outlet hose leaking)
After getting the coolant system pressure tested, it turns out that the water pump is the culprit - a leak at the shaft seal is spraying water on the suspect hose. I cannot find any shop in my extended area who is willing to replace the pump (it's not a F150 or a Mustang).
The downloaded manual makes the job look rather straightforward, but I've been down that road before...
Is this something my wife & I could tackle ourselves? I've done a lot of fearless wrenching in my younger days, but I'm now retired & have a back issue that makes bending over rather painful after several minutes. Do I need a pulley puller for removing that part, or does it just come off after the bolts are removed? Any other special tools needed? Anything to look out for? I already know that there is not nearly as much clearance around that area as the manual illustrations imply!
Or do I simply remove the hose to the throttle body, remove the belt & begin to unbolt the pump? (And I know to be very respectful of the expansion tank hose nipple!)
Thanks,
Joe

It's the one in my sig line, a 2007 with a standard 3.0.
Right now I don't have the car at my house to verify, but my mechanic friend said that it looked like the pump is mounted outboard of the engine, with the shaft pointing towards the engine! Did they do this in the 2007 model year? I thought he was mistaken, but he seemed fairly certain; he's the guy who helped me change the pump outlet hose I referenced in my previous thread. Can't see too much through the maze of hoses, etc. The Jag dealer in our area claims it will be a 3.5 - 4 hour job.

Replacing the water pump on the 3.0 litre engine is relatively straightforward. It's mounted away from the engine block and can be easily removed without the need for any special tools.
Given the age of the vehicle, it's probably a good idea to also replace the serpentine belt, idler pulleys and belt tensioner at the same time.
When ordering the water pump and associated parts, provide the VIN as they are VIN-specific with different mounting holes.

Note my car is an '02 V6. For your '07, you will need the style that didn't fit my car. Watch out, because I found many vendors have incorrect part numbers online, at least for my '02. See the pictures for the difference in one of the mounting arms. It wasn't obvious at first glance when I compared the new and old at the store.
