Default Weak seat heaters

2003 S type R - seat heaters work, but take too long to heat up. Dealer says that's just how they are. Any way to improve them? or can an aftermarket heater be wired to work with the oem switch? Any suggestions?

quite the third world complaint ! do what i do in winter , go out start your car flick on the heater and seat heater , go back inside drink coffee then leave for work in a cosy warm car with a warm seat 5mins later, mine takes about 2-3 mins before you can feel the seat heaters , don't think you will find an upgrade ,
but good luck anyways .

Thanks, but I was hoping for a more technical solution to a poor *** excuse for a seat heater in a premium automobile. We have 4 to 5 months of cold weather in these parts.

mine mite take a few mins to be warm , but is no poor excuse it gets way to hot for my liking hence i guess the half temp second press option ,and is a great trick to play on unsuspecting passengers . one told me they thought they had wet them self ha, like i said great trick. you may have some tracks not working (burnt out), it might be worth removing the heat pad and testing it , id say that a second hand one wouldn't be all that expensive , but i suspect new will be ! is the passengers one any better have you tried comparing them ?

thanks for the input, both seats are the same. I also have an 08 BMW and within 3 blocks from leaving the house they are hot. I've had other cars with seat heaters and all worked fine. When I mentioned the heaters to the dealer service writer, the technician was standing right there and they both acknowledged it is a characteristic of the car. I was hoping some electrical guru might have a go round.

Dorman Universal Seat Heater.

Dorman Products - 628-040

Dual heat settings. Upholstery guy could wire in place of originals and retain the 2 position heat setting??????

Just a thought.
