Weird problem with door lock.

Weird problem with door lock.
It seems like the motor to the drivers door lock is no longer working. When I unlock the car with the remote, the drivers door does not unlock but all other doors do. To get the drivers door to lock/unlock I have to put the key in the door. What makes this even more annoying is before I drive off I have to manually lock the driver door. If I don't, all other doors will lock then unlock. If I forget to lock manually getting out of the car pressing the remote to lock, the other doors will lock then unlock. When you have shopping bags in your hand it is extremly annoying to open the drivers door again to manually lock then press the remote to lock the other doors.
Is this a pricey fix? Or is this something I can do?

RE: Weird problem with door lock.
I wouldnt suspect the motor to have gone south as much as the link between the two. not to say chevys are like our jags but i repaired the same problem twice on silverados. one other thing to look at also on our Jags, do we have a vacuum type acctuator? this was common on older mercedes. not sure if that style lock would carry on.

RE: Weird problem with door lock.
It sounds like the door latch assembly which includes the actuator. It's an electronic unit. The driver's side works as a master unit for the other doors. That's why the frustration of with the other doors. Once you cure this problem, all the other will fall in line.
