Care details? See below:

Trans oil is now much cheaper even if you have the ZF. It's always been cheap for the Ford box (I think). Not big cost to have either changed if you can't DIY.

This is critical guys!
This really funny... So @aholbro1 has an 05 like I had... Yet mine displayed "Boot Open" for the trunk and "Bonnet Open" for the hood...I remember showing many people as I thought it funny that my car "spoke with a British accent"....

Yeah, even though I deselect the British option is till uses those terms. Maybe I missed a spot in the setup screen?

Of course my car may just be a bit different as it does stop for tea and scones with clotted cream in the afternoons ...

Not that I mind that. Yummy!

My 03 does Boot and Bonnet. My wife was driving it once and got the "boot open" message and was completely puzzled by what that meant. Called me about it. So if anything, those terms at least supply a little amusement.

All versions of the car have a door unlock button on the centre console, bottom row of buttons.

As much as I totally agree with that, it has saved my bacon once already. Careless stab at the skinny pedal on a damp road with some leaves on it. Kept me out of the ditch.

Ya know, I noticed that but thought Laurie was just being clumsy. Then it almost ate my reading glasses. Was so much fun at the time since the GPS had us lost. Glad to hear it's a design flaw and not just us.

eds123;
The defroster panel is still available??

Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

It s $250!!!!

This should be easy to get used but most of them are broken because the guys don't understand how to remove it properly!! Be sure and remove the two A-pillar covers first before attempting to remove the defrost grill. The covers have tabs that insert into ends of the defrost panel. Also the same panel is used from 2003-2008.

Jim's been having too much fun lately! Met up with him last weekend for the local British Car Show. Lori makes some mean anti-pasta salad!

He might be messing with a C*rvette....(shhhhh)....

Don't fret Rick, his S Type was spotless at the show, it's getting plenty of attention.

They way all the doors lock as soon as you move off. Whether the doors are locked or not is a decision I would prefer to make myself.

The lurch, how could a car be sold with such a thing?

Thanks for the info, even mine is cracked in the middle. Is their a write up on how to install the "defroster grill sable"?? For a temp solution I used gorilla tape; cut it in half to make it alittle narrow and bingo so far it has held up very nicely keeping the broken grill joined. Since it's black tape and nicely cut, it doesn't look tacky at all.

The auto-lock can be disabled very easily. (*)

The lurch should be fixed by the reflash (and almost always seems to be). It didn't affect all cars / drivers and took time to appear which is presumably how it was missed in testing. You probably know it affected BMWs, Audis etc too.

(*) dealer tool or it may be that the kind of instructions will work which I think are in the X-Type forum (bit vague, sorry, but my recollection of where I saw them is that way as I just wasn't interested)
