^ LOL!
Well mine is an 03 and i messed with it last night and I can't get it to repeat what yours is doing Bob. Tried the auto setting just for sh*ts and giggles and that didn't make a difference, as expected. So maybe it is an 05 and up thing? Dunno.
I have no issues with the light stalk, i have just enough grey matter left in my head to remember how many clicks it is. And usually use the auto-wiper feature too, and i'm pretty happy with how it works. But sometimes i'd like to change it from auto and that's when the inability to see it comes into play. Design issue, at least for anyone who is 6'5" or so and basically sits in the back seat to drive.
Still, it is way better than my Range Rover. They load the stalks up with so many functions on that thing I'm pretty sure there is a switch on one of the stalks that will rotate all 4 tires and change the oil.

OK so here's what I just found out and I think perhaps two things are going on here. A malfunction of sorts and design change.
I tried with the lights turned off .
1. Just flashing it firmly does flash the high-beams and they go off properly.
2. Flashing it and holding it briefly or for any amount of time DOES NOT leave the high beams on when you don't already have the head lamps on. But If you do have the head lamps on then it DOES leave the high-beams on. This seems to me as purposeful design.
3. If the headlamps are off and you lightly pull the stalk then high beams come on and you don't have to extend the hold time very much (still only lightly pulling on the stalk) for it to LEAVE the high-beams on.
I believe #3 is what is happening to ShultzLD and myself when we use the turn signal. This is what I'm going to call the dealer about some time today I hope.
I promise to keep my clothes on too!

I have an 05 Stype built in the US. The directional wand does not exhibit any of the abnormal behaviors posted above. I tried it in auto mode during the day and the night, sorry, I could not recreate the high beam remaining on issue. Good luck Staatsof, i hope you fiquer out the issue. merry christmas.

I find the car nearly perfect. Except this:
Every winter, the clear finish on the wood gearshift knob suddenly cracks and splits in multiple places all at once. Replacements and refinished ones do the same.
The identical knob in my X (which lives right next to the S) has never had this happen.

Great topic... what annoys me the most: The lame non-sport (regular) driving mode. Jeez it's like driving a boat on the road and the shifts are so slow and the suspension is like a town-car.
I've finally 'taught' my "S" mode to shift at redline and hold the gears longer.. it's great. I'm just so paranoid now that if I live it on it will unlearn some of those naughty tricks and I just can't have that. Living in a small town with low speed limits tends to affect my S mode.
I wish there was a way to manually set the suspension, throttle response and shift points and keep it that way permanently.

I use my Sansa Fuze via the aux jack and you can use the Ipod directly as well as a USB interface. It's not super slick like some of the on-board systems you see today from Ford and others but the audio quality is top notch if your source is.

The fixed ends of the seat belts (on each side of the front center console) are too short. They are so far down that it makes putting on your seat belt a difficult task.
I am 6'1", weigh 225 lbs and have a 39 inch waist. I'm a husky boy
but not fat. I would love to have a 2-3" extension mounted at the floor boards to make the ends of the seat belt stick-out further. If done, putting on my seat belt would be an easy task, just like all the other vehicles I have driven.
Edit: Looks like they have them available. WOW! Seat Belt Extender Combo Pack
