What annoys you most about your S-Type??

No, the 05 doesn't have a fuel door release in the trunk (boot). My dumb @ss just went to the garage to check...
But it does have a manual boot lid release lanyard for when you lock yourself in the boot to search for a water leak!!!

Kinda chilly out there Jeff?
Or car jacked here in Charlotte!

Been there, done that....
Equip a small "chile" one each with water hose to spray down the outside and remembered to take a flashlight (torch) in with you?
Now JOsworth and Rick; as to the real dumb@ss....not me, see? I'm so very schmaaaht...noted no such lanyard/release on the '91 GMDS so took the key fob in with me(no way I'm locking myself in the boot; even one spacious enough to haul a family of 9 and their primary transportation; with only my kids and wife to depend on for getting out!) so I need only hold down the "unlock" button some seconds til the latch actuates....unfortunately, was wearing jeans the "used to" fit, making pockets tight....and actually didn't need torch to find the leak when it came, but rather was discovered with the aforementioned dumb @ss.....anybody ever try to fish something out of your pocket whilst wearing overtight, wet jeans and simultaneously folded up into a cramped space? JOs, not sure I'm flexible enough to get into an S-type boot!
Anyway....it'll be another 3 weeks or so before my daughter heads back East for school, so if I can help with any other readibly-observable differences between 03's and 05's, ping me before mid January.
Agree with the sentiments about 'em being sleek cars with smooth engines (can't IMAGINE what it's like with the supercharged v-8 harnessed up!) As I told my daughter when we were "car shopping" (believe it or not, had to do a bit of a sales-job on her and the wife to get her in a Jag - they were thinking MY 05 or newer, which put us smack in the middle of the Focus/Cobalt market, budget-wise) some cars just begin to look like old, junky beaters as they get older, even if well-kept. Others, become "classics" and are cherished by future generations. I offered the 60's era Mustang and Jag E type as examples. Then told her...of all the offerings within our budget range, S-type is the only one that isn't pre-destined to look like a "junky old beater" by the time you graduate college.

My only gripe is the lack of power of the 3.0's. These engines should have been 3.5 liter with corresponding increase in hp and torque. I live in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains and a few more ponies would have been much better for a car of this weight. With the a/c on in summer, just a slight uphill causes a downshift. This did not occur in my wife's previous 2003 3.0 X-Type. Her car could even go over the notorious "Grapevine" on Hiway 5 northbound, with no downshifting.

Maybe he drove one too but I think you meant me? The dealer told me it was north of $300K but when I just looked it up it wasn't that much. Still fricken expensive though. It's a really big car and it was funny watching it outrun some of the the Lamborghinis down the straights. A very well planted car and impressively fast for it's size and weight.

Sorry Bob. Yep, mixed ya up with JOsworth. I'm trying to imagine the Bentley Super Sport (oversized 2-door STR) rumbling down our narrow NY highways. People would get freaked out by this thing...even the full size pick-up drivers. LOL! It's the same weight as my Ford Expedition...Like it came out of a movie with oversized characters. LOL! I wouldn't kick it out of my garage, but in the same vien I would have to build the garage around it.

LOL! jagv8: The STR's lack of reaching redline subliminally irks many of us. Agreed George: The Bentley SS must be a beast in order for it to haul 5000 lbs. through the 0-60 in 3.9 sec. From what I read it has a turbocharged V12. Imagine this power in an "S"? Prob. need another foot of hood length to shoe horn it in?

All the Bentley Continentals, including the Supersports, use Volkswagen's W-12 (essentially two V-6's "glued" together).
And the Bugatti uses a Volkswagen W-16 ( two V-8's ) LOL!!!

Ya not nit picking Jeff. Ya just gave intrigueing info. chap...So basically anything Bentley or Bugatti takes off the shelf will seriously inhale my STR. It's ok, I'm a big boy...I can handle it...Sniffle, sniffle...Boo hoo...weep, weep....Wahhhhh!

Concur Bob. On Speed Channel's supercar showdown show starring Tanner Foust, I watched the Bentley SS hold its own against a supercar that was nearly 1200 lbs. lighter. Thing is a friggin beast. If I saw it in my rearview mirror I would keep watch for its grill to open and suck my STR in with its "tractor beam"...Ahhh!, Riski! Are you still selling that NOS kit?

I think you might have to bump the handling & chassis stiffness as well though I haven't seen any raw data on that. That could get very expensive if you wanted it to work correctly and not break the car.
I just couldn't see myself wanting one of those cars. I think the regular Bentley would be a lot nicer car to actually use. The front seats in the SS are too sporty for what I'd be wanting a Bentley for most of the time. The seats with the factory belts did hold your torso well in place in the turns when driven at 10/10ths. The current Corvette Z06 seats and belts don't do that but it's a bit of a beast too. The Bentley SS is a hell of a neat ride.

Just imagine the response when a Bentley owner says the S-Type is just a fancy Ford and you say the Bentley is just a tarted up and overweight VW.
