Default Wheel Shakes when braking, rotors?

Hello, just had Brand New Front Rotors, and ceramic pads for front and rear installed, and now my wheel shakes when I press the brakes. The rotors are slotted and drilled by Powerstop, and the pads are ceramic by powerstop as well. Any ideas? thanks guys.

I had my own parts and had a mechanic install them, he said it could be defective rotors? any truth in that? he said it should not shake once installed.

Yeah, and the Moon is made of green cheese. Yes of course they could be faulty, but are you sure your guy has installed them correctly?????

Do you know what he could have messes up on installing them?

the hub face must be clean and clear of rust. But the real question is--did you have shaking BEFORE the new rotors were installed? If the answer is yes you likely have a run out on the hub(ie it is bent).

no shaking before, I would have noticed it. The brakes are much more quieter now than before no squeal and no grinding noises. But just the shake now.

Have you mechanic measure lateral runout on the rotors. Determine if it was bad installation or badly machined rotors. Could be either.

My Stype dropped the lower bolt from the LHF calliper on the way home tonight. I heard the noise as it hit the car and a small shake when using the brakes. I had to drive home on the handbrake because the top bolt became loose as well. On inspecting it the top bolt was too long and the bush mech? had tightened it to the disc and left it loose. I had a spare 12 mm to replace them both and will get the proper bolts in soon. Rotors and disc were like new so the last owner last month must have changed them. The history of these cars in the wrong hands is all there. Story ?? loose bolts cause my wheel shake. Paul

@ grandhaze: that is horrendous !!! You're very lucky it didn't end badly.

Just as an aside, whenever I work on brakes I always put the bolts back in with a little locktite, to ensure they stay there.

Just a reminder that regular locktite becomes liquid at high temperatures thus it actually facilitates loosening of fasteners. Besure to use high temperature locktite around brake components that can get hot. Or tighten bolts dry.

I bought replacement bolts, not too expensive, and they come pre-locktited.

Sudden change in temperature can warp discs...for example hitting a puddle of water after heavy braking....
