Default When replacing spark plugs and coils what else needs to be done?

Just wanted to double check with the experts what need to be done when removing the manifold on the 3.0. I heard the elbow should be done, but was wondering about the gaskets, and what the difference was between these gaskets and if I would need both? I had the gaskets done about a year ago, but do not remember if it was both or just 1 of these types of gaskets. I did not do the coils so I wanted to do that this time as the car runs a bit rough. And also wanted to check the elbow and see if it was cracked. here is the links for the 2 different types of gaskets..... thanks guys

You want the 1 piece lower manifold gaskets (kinda like the Victor Reinz) above, I would not reuse that type, I believe they are a 1 time deal.

On the uppers, if they were recently replaced and in good shape go ahead and reuse them.

You know FelPro makes very good aftermarket seals and gaskets that you will need and they are available at any BIG Box auto parts store. I don't think they make the elbow though

With the age of your car, I'd recommend replacing the valve cover gaskets and also the valve cover breather tube, as well.

You don't want to put nice new parts in and have oil seep past the worn out gaskets and short out coils.

thanks for the info, the valve cover gaskets were done about a year ago about 8-10k miles. So, I should def replace the lower 1 piece gasket? Also, when I remember my mechanic before he moved told me last year he had to glue down the lower manifold where a bolt goes in because I believe that one of the ends that the bolt goes through broke off, is this going to be a problem doing these gaskets? thanks

I think you are referring to the brass fitting(s) that the manifold bolts thread into, as long as they were epoxied in correctly you should not have a problem.

There have been a few threads here about that "epoxy fix".

The first link is not for your car - it is the lower gasket for the very early cars up to L86901. The upper gasket you need is XR843536.

It is what he needs.

Again you need the 1 piece lower intake gaskets for your MY (1 per each bank for a total of 2). Very similar to the Victor Reinz that are pictured in the link.

I just checked from jagbits and saw that the 1 piece gaskets are only to vin L86901, my vin starts with M. So I am guessing this will not fit?
