Hello all. I thought I'd try resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has located a source for a front end bra for the S-type. I know, I know, it's a crime against nature and all that's holy to consider this, but it's love bug season here in Florida and I have a couple of cross-state trips coming up. Those little critters will destroy your paint if you don't get them off quickly -- and that usually means spending a couple of hours with soap, water and a bug sponge on a broiling driveway with no shade during summer in Florida.
I had a front end bra for a Jeep Liberty I used to own and it worked great during love bug season -- and no, it didn't hurt the paint at all. In fact it was an authorized Mopar accessory, offered by dealers. It was a two-piece arrangement -- one piece protected the grille, bumper and related areas, the second piece covered the leading edge of the hood (bonnet).
Like the original poster, I've searched the internet to no avail -- lots of companies offer front-end bras, but none of them offer products to fit Jaguars. I don't want one of those "clear bra" applications which are apparently semi-permanent. I just want temporary protection I can remove when I don't need it. Does anyone have a possible source? I promise I won't use it all the time -- just on long trips during love bug season.
Thanks!

Hey Gary,
My daily 2005 (non Jag) is surpassing 250k on the clock. Its BIG and black and gets really poopy mileage. I will be visiting your great state in a week or so, coming from S.C. to mile marker zero . We will visit East Coast attractions on the way down and West Coast attractions on the way back. Basically looking at another 2,200 mile tract round trip give or take. Here is my secret: Fresh coat of wax, on front bumper skin, chrome grill and black facia of hood (bonnet). The rest awwh, well might get some spray wax or just a high pressure wax job, if you know what i mean. I "google" a you do it pressure wash joint after I drop the wife and kiddos at hotel. Take my cooler and go spray the bugs off. Works pretty well after 12 years, of traveling.

Now I know its not a "bra", but you did not state MY. Since this model has been discontinued for approx. 9 years. It looks like you will spend a small fortune on a custom bra or heed my advice above.

I had the factory bra on my 00 S Type... Huge mistake (I peeked under the bra...lol) but it's now the new owners problem. I did offer him a replacement front bumper at a steal, he passed..

You might want to think about putting on a modern paint sealer instead of just wax. I completely detailed my paint last year. I clayed the entire car, got rid of EVERY scratch and touched up most chips. I buffed it out then I used Jescar Power Lock + Plus. There are other products out there too. This is much more protective for your paint. It protects against bug guts juice and most dirt just doesn't stick. It's not going to help road debris though. It lasts about a year too!
You can put a high quality wax on top of it too if you want. I didn't think that was necessary. My car car took 3rd at concours last year and probably would have gotten a 1st if one of those GD HID headlamps hadn't broken on the way there.

I know, it’s criminal what some folk will do to uglify their front end. I prefer to expose mine.
And love bugs… What is a love bug? Do you mean VW Beetle drivers? I guess they could damage your front end but so can any other car.

Yeah they can be a real P.I.T.A.. I lived in Florida for 3 years back in the early 90's. I drove a white Kenworth day cab Semi Truck, for a company called Ken Wood Trucking based out of Cape Canaveral. I had just left Miami, and was northbound on I-95. When a guy yells on the CB, how bout that Northbound Black Kenworth. I replied you mean this "Love Bug" covered White Kenworth! Yeah it was really that bad!
