Default Will a regular OBD II scanner work on stype?

Will a regular OBD II scanner (service codes, etc) work on stype? I have an ABS and Traction light on (after hub replacement) and I have tried clearing them with a standard scanner. It doesn't look like a standard scanner can even get the codes, though it says it is successful clearly them?

Ideas?

By law any OBDII scanner will pull all the generic codes. Now when you get into manufacturer specific codes you may or may not be able to get them. It is hit or miss. With the problem you’re having I would bet it will require a visit to the dealer. You have already tried and it did not work so I think that is your answer.

'regular' OBD scanners will only capture engine and transmission codes, all other advanced systems like ABS, air bags, body modules, etc will require a more significant software/scanner. The autoenginuity scanner is currently the most affordable and effective scanner for the jags standard and enhanced codes right now.

What h20 said.... but also "regular"? Depends which of the multiple protocols it supports (PWM, VPW, KWP, 9141, CAN). (AFAIK the S only uses PWM, 9141 and CAN.)

And... the model year of your S-Type, which you didn't specify

Have a look at the wiring diagrams for your model year car and then you'll see which you may need. (Or just get AutoEnginuity or the like.)

Yea, I ended up taking it in to the Jag Dealer, and for a mere $115 they ran diagnostics (Nalley Jag). They could read the codes, and ABS would have been hard to read with a standard OBD II reader. It's a 2000 Stype

Sorry, I forgot the code but it was front left side Hub sensor (the side I replaced). And it's either a bad sensor on the hub or the dealer when they installed over torqued it (it was supposed to be 221 ft/lb, but I won't know until this weekend and I receive the replacement hub.

I have an ABS and Traction light on (after hub replacement)
Had the same thing after I did the front discs. After pumping the brakes and turning the car's battery off and on several times, it eventually cleared it.

But I use an OBDII scanner on my '03, a bit too frequently I'd say.
