Window issue *Not what you think!*

For starters I know I am new here but I have lurked around for a while. Generally there is a lot of good information here and thanks to a lot of you I have been able to get some very annoying problems fixed that have otherwise confused mechanics/dealers, etc.
I swear to God I searched for something on my problem but could not find anything!!
My window problem is intermittent. I have a 2003 S Type V6 and as we all know, if the driver's door is open, the windows will not go up or down. Sometimes I will get in the car and want to put the window down and nothing happens. Then I will open and close the door again and still nothing. I will do this sometimes 20 times before the windows will work again. Then, sometimes they work just fine with no issues. I know this is long-winded but if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

First things first - check your fuses. The one that controls your window motor/regulator may be loose. Opening and closing your door may be temporarily establishing electrical contact, allowing your window to work for a moment. Find the correct fuse using the fuse box diagram in your owners manual, pull it, and re-seat it. If you're extremely lucky, that's your problem. If not, it could be an issue with your window motor....

I will do that. Also, once the windows work, they will keep working until the door is opened again. So I could drive down a gravel road with massive potholes and they keep working. I thought that maybe the vibration of driving would cause them to stop working but that does not seem to be the case. It's really frustrating!
I love the car but somethings are just hard to diagnose. You don't even want to know what I went through with the misfire on cylinder 5 only to learn that was as simple as replacing two $9 gaskets...

Yep, I'm sure those two gaskets were the infamous factory Intake Manifold Tuner Valve O-rings, a well-know defect in these cars. Many of us have had the same experience with them as you did and replaced them ourselves with the new-and-improved version. That usually fixes these particular issues....

Hmmm...Brutal has stated that a weak point in this model is the ignition switch (electrical part, not the mechanical) and that he has replaced quite a few. Just a wild @ss guess, but maybe the two are related and something is getting "confused" in the control module. Again, just a guess and wouldn't do anything without testing...
