Default Windshield Wipers Don't Work Except for Wash RESOLVED

I turn the switch and nothing happens. However, if I push for wash the wipers work. Is this a switch issue or something else? Any ideas?

I would suspect the control stalk since everything does work but not when you move the switch.

You could try cleaning and lubricating the control stalk but you most likely need to replace it.

Do you have the rain sensing wipers?

They tell me I have the rain sensing wipers and they don't work unless the windshield is wet enough. Is that possible? I had rain sensing wipers before but was always able to have the wipers work no matter how wet the windshield was. I'm confounded.

Follow handbook as to how to select non-auto settings.

That is true but you can over ride the automatic setting and use them on low or high speed.

As JagV8 said do you understand how the wipers work? The handbook lays it out in detail.

Maybe monkey around with the stalk some more to see if you can get it working?

Well it turns out I should have read the owner's manual. Unlike one of my old Jags this one you move the stalk up once, twice or three times to get the wipers to work. DUH! Solved and working fine. Thanks to all who replied.

Good job I was thinking that might be the problem.
