Greetings!
While scraping the snow and ice off of the windshield of my 2005 S type 4.2 I snagged the metal piece of trim at the top of the windshield and it ripped about a 2" section in the center. I did a search of previous posts and the vendor area and could not find any information. I suppose this is a dealer part? Does anyone know how the trim piece [black coated metal that covers the top of the windshield] is removed and how the new piece would attach? Should I just take it to a windshield replacement shop or the local dealer?
Thanks in advance,

It turns out that this trim piece is installed prior to the windshield being set in place. Even if I could find the trim somewhere the windshield would have to be removed to install the trim piece. As the trim piece is purely cosmetic it looks like I will learn to live with it until the gods take pity on me and throw a stone at the windshield causing a chip in my line of site. Should this occur my insurance would replace the windshield and trim piece free of charge.

A hammer and nail will speed the process or pay your naybors kids to take pot shots at it with a sling shot ha !
Also I checked and smith and smith auto glass in New Zealand doesn't just have acsess to the trim thay stock the trim in there aukland wear house, and said thay have trims and rubbers for nealy every later modle wind screen thay stock but very little in the way of rear screen trims and rubbers! Some are second hand pieces , so not necessarily dealer only part!
I have a good mate who is a mobile auto glazier who works for them , so just rolled it off him in conversation, he said quite a lot of sun burned trims get replaced from there invintory as they break very easely !
