Default Wiper arm, driver side

Wiper arm, driver side bends in the middle when it sweeps. Tried two new blades still doesn't clear unless someone applies pressure to the center during the sweep? I was going to order the arm p/n XR852224 at a local Jag dealer and thy said that the arm supersedes up to a another p/n that costs more.

New to this awesome Forum - Please help

Try searching for a used part on eBay.

I looked at some but wondered if I'm just buying another problem. This is a 2000 4.0
S Type with 108400 miles that sat in a garage for months. I was going to remove the arms to replace the cabin air filters and wanted to know if the springs could be removed from the arms?

I have other questions that I'd like to put on this post regarding my new first time JAG.

Rear right, passenger window will not move with either switch? Any DIY's on the forum to help me trouble shoot which switch is bad?

fuel cover latch doesn't work . would that be a solenoid or a fuse?

The springs fitted to the arms are usually not removed. If there is a problem with tension against the windscreen, the problem is more likely the wiper blade assembly is distorted or incorrect for the vehicle.

Use the S-Type forum SEARCH feature to find the tons of info already available on your issues. If you don't find what you need, best to start a new thread for each topic. Good luck.

Hello pab,

I wanted to know if anyone here can look at some pics of the driver wiper arm. It has a Trico #165951, which wondered if that's right since I thought it would have an OEM # on it? I also have a shot the where arm is hitting the underside of the hood. I bought a arm remover tool, loosened the nut, removed the arm and then tightened the nut. It still is hitting the hood when it goes under?

Sorry, can't help you have a 4.0 car and they are very different from the post face-lift cars.

If you remove both wiper arms, you must notice there is a difference between the LH and RH arms on LHD vehicles. If the dealer gave you the part number of XR852224 as the superseded number for the LH (driver's side) arm, that is incorrect. The correct part number for the LH arm is XR852222.

They are not interchangeable.

Hello NBCat,
Thank you for the reply. I tried to attach pictures of the driver blade, still learning how.
On the underside of the driver arm it has a TRICO 165951 AAX D/SIDE
The dealer gave me the XR852222 and said it replaces the XR827870. I researched the new part and it comes with a washer tube attached?

The arm is designed for later MY vehicles, so it does come with the tube. You should be able to remove the clip holding the tube to the arm along with the tube, then use it for replacing the current arm.

Be sure the wiper motor is parked in the correct position prior to fitting the arm so it has the correct sweep and then parks in the correct position.
