Wiper doesn't park

Wiper doesn't park
2005 S-type. V6 Suddenly wipers would not go back to park. They stop at different locations all the time. I switched relays with no difference, I also pulled the relay to be sure I had the correct one. I have pulled the wiper motor out, can't get the unit open to check the micro-switch some people talk about, that could be in a different model. So I don't want to buy a new motor if that is not the problems. Wipers work fine except they park in whatever location they seem to feel like.
Any thoughts or ideas ???
Thanks

Still messed up
Well I put in a new (re-built) wiper motor and it still stops at random places. No real difference if I put the control on intermittent, or steady, when they stop it could be anywhere.
So, either I got another bad motor or something else is the problem.
ANY ideas guys ????? Thanks.

You say "if I put the control on intermittent, or steady, when they stop it could be anywhere." You mean that they stop during operation or only when they should park, albeit in the wrong place? If you turn the wipers off when they are on steady, at the vertical position - what happens?
On the assumption that the 'new' motor is working correctly, is there a seperate control or module for parking behaviour?
Have you checked that the wiper linkages are not dry or sticking, this could upset the parking, which is timed to some degree by the circular track I mentioned before and any drag will affect it?
Does the motor park correctly without the load of the wiper arms on it?

Hi Many,
I returned the first rebuilt wiper motor and got another one. I connected the wires to the new motor, marked the location if the wiper shaft, ran the wiper motor (not installed, no arms connected) with it sitting bare in the engine compartment. the motor would run fine, slow, fast, intermittent but when I turn the wipers off via the control the motor would run a few seconds and stop. it would stop at different places, one time the mark would be at 12 another time at 4 another at 9, another at 1. It would just stop different places. I swapped out the park relay and it made no difference. HELP !!!

I have the 2004 JTIS and looked at the electrical, my Jag is a 2005 S, it only has a relay in r16, the r15 is empty. The r15 socket is not even wired, so it appears Jaguar changed some things between 2004 and 2005. Lucky me. I unplug the r16 and wipers don't work at all. SOOOOOO the question now is where did Jaguar put the park relay, assuming there is one.

No work as been done on the car in a while, knock on wood, the wipers just started going weird. On intermittent cycle they would pause in different place on each cycle. When I went to turn them off the wiper did several swipes and stopped mid-glass. They have been stopping at different places since (last week).

no relay in R21 but I found an electrical diagram for a 2007, it says the wiper relays are in 6 and 16. I believe this is true, if I pull EITHER one out the wipers don't work at all. If I only pull R16 out I can hear the relay work on low and high wiper setting, if I only pull R6 out I never hear anything when I start stop the wiper control. I have switched both relays with working ones and the wipers still wont find park. The diagram says R16 (small one) is the park relay and R6 (larger) is the high low. This is very tough..

Got to love this. I called my local Jaguar dealer, asked if they had the wiper park relay. They had no way to tell which relay is what I need, said to bring the old one to them and they would try and match it up. The numbers on the old relay are not any they know. I thought relays were sensitive to the amount of current flowing thru particular pins so you needed to have the exact match for proper function.

good suggestion, wish I knew someone with a Jaguar or Lincoln about 2005 unfortunately mostly BMW and Japanese around here. I'll have to experiment with my meter. LOL. I find it odd I don't hear the park relay, that could be the issue, what ever triggers it. I've read people changing out the interior control, that seems like a major job and costly. Thanks for all the help...

I've been scratching my head over this and not got anywhere.
If you're getting your tester out, I did find this, worth checking as long as the wiring is the same?

The problem continues..
I got my 2005 service disk, checked the electrical diagrams, swapped out the wiper and park relays, it seems everything is how it should be. BUT wipers still don't park in the correct location. When the wiper is running then turned off, they continue for a couple of wipes and then stop where they want. With all the messing around I have done something to cause the intermittent wipers from running correctly, they run as if on the continuous slow setting. Everything worked fine until the park function failed.
I monitored the park relay socket and see the signal from the fem. Is there a GOOD way to pull the front fuse/RELAY block so I could check the connections on the underside..
I'm at a loss.
