Default Wiper Trouble

06 S Type 3.0... Have been reasearching why my wipers will suddenly stop working... But no clue as of yet. Been watching them with headlights on and engine running until they quit. Noticed when they would stop, the headlights would dim slightly then return to normal brightness. Any ideas?? Stopping the engine and then restarting seems to reset the wipers for a short time. Then once again they will stop. Relay???

Some sort of problem/short with the park position? I can think of no other way than taking them apart or possibly diagnosis with a meter (DVOM).

I suppose a wiring/connector fault is an unlikely alternative.

Had the same problem with mine and I sorted it.

Mine just stopped one day, checked all the relays, fuses, all good. Thought it must be the motor, but it seemed unlikely. The motor has a thermal cut out to stop it from burning out. After a bit of fault finding and searching the problem was quite simple.

Try this...

Remove the wiper arms
Remove the plastic cover at the base of the windscreen.
Get a wire brush and clean up the spindles which the wipers fix too. Use a screwdriver for heavy rust and plenty of wd40.
Spray wd40 on all the moving joints of the rotating arms and keep switching the wipers on until eventually it will all free off.
once everything is moving freely, pack the joints with grease and reassemble.

What happens is water runs down the side the windscreen and past the wiper arms and rusts the spindles, which eventually seize.

Mines great now and jams or stutters...

Hope this helps

And the dimming of the lights when the wipers stop is the motor jamming, before the thermal cut out steps in..
