I did in Vegas, it was a toss up between parking for two days in the public parking or the relative safety of the valet section.
You can check your mileage fuel etc and if you find an extra 50 miles head straight for the manager.

Thumbs down

Off the cuff I would say probably not. However, I had a rental car, A Jaguar XK '07 last march for a week, and had it valet parked every day at two different hotels. No problems at all.
A friend of mine valets his Farrari regularly and told me once someone told him the valet was driving around the small parking lot. His comment was basically "Oh let him have some fun." Hmmmm......I can't say that would be my reaction. Different strokes for different folks!

Big difference between a parking lot attendant and a valet at a hotel. I left mine with the valet while in Vegas too and had no problems.

Guys, I was a valet for a few years in my late teens @ both restaurants, hotels, and private parties. Most valets services are contracted out and not run by the establishment. If you have a fast car, pay extra to have it parked at the very front in site. We used them as shuttle cars to run the other valets to the farther cars, took them for high speed passes down the local streets, etc. If I have to use valet I will pay to keep my STR close or park it myself & tip the valet anyway.

There's too many serious things to worry about, I can't worry about a car.

I was a valet in college for about 2.5 years. Videos like this are probably the outlier, as there is always some bad apples in the group. Word to the wise, $20 should get your car parked up front within line of site of the valet to watch/protect, $10-15 he or she should let you park yourself in the lot, preferably in a safe nook, while letting you keep the keys.

H*ll no. I don't care if it's just a car. It's my friggin car. Last time I let a valet park one of my cars (Saab 9000 Aero) it ended up 5 blocks away in a different parking lot with several new door dings and I had to climb in the window to get in because they had it wedged against another car and a wall (Washington DC).

I'll keep moving until I can park it myself. The cost of being OCD, perhaps.

Sadly, the only place I ever go with valet parking is the hospital where I take my mother in law for appointments, I usually just let her off at the entrance since I use her handicap placard for parking. (Also, I hate having to tip because I never carry cash--this is also why I don't shop at the commissary)

That story of the Valet company over here in Orlando,FL was plastered all over the place, apparently the owner of that company used customer vehicles for his own joy ride and on top of that he owed the employees money and never paid them. So he basically closed his business down/left his house and ran off, nonone knows where he is.
Personally even though its just a car I would never valet, I know some places are reputable etc...but still I would pay to park my own vehicle with the keys in my own pocket.

For all you No guys what if you were in my position in Vegas, there's acres of free parking with god knows who wandering about at night, or the valet option.
AFAIK there is nothing else and taking the car up to the room isn't allowed.
Would you stay home?

Yes, I would stay home. Far, far too hot in Vegas for me to even think about making a trip out there....

We barely have valet parking in England, very few places offer it. I used it once at an airport Hilton and they parked my car under a tree for the two weeks we were on holiday, came back and it was covered in bird crap! Not impressed.

I have to admit I normally avoid them like the plague too, Vegas was the exception.

Just watched the video - I love how these people think 65mph is "joyriding" - that's not even the motorway speed limit!

I'm in Vegas now... I did reluctantly leave the S Type in the valet's hands today.. so far so good... just remember to tip very well ahead of time.. I agree wholeheartedly with Norri about parking outside in Vegas... otherwise, no chance... I don't even let the carwash attendants drive the car into the car wash...

I'd rather take the bus. To Vegas. From Pittsburgh. Than let a valet touch my car. Extreme? Insane? You betcha. I can hardly stand it letting the mechanics drive it from the parking lot into the garage for inspection, and I watch the whole time!

I wonder if you could intentionally put your car in "limp home" mode before turning over the keys to the valet.....
