I have yet to see another jaguar s type r in my neck of the woods. Never even know they existed until i was researching to get an m5 or amg. Proud to say i picked the jag just for that same reason, not many around, at least around my neck of the woods. I rarely even see an s type period. Lots of x types around long beach though... cool to know there are at least some nice Jag owners out there that are not snobby or A** holes .

Seems like a lot of hype over nothing. If you stereotype, you miss a lot. Just sayin'.

jag owners are not a$$ holes, we just have a passion for jags. I'm going to speak for myself here, jaguars are just diferent than the common bmw or mercedes. theres more heritage, and class. As a jag driver i always try to be modest, better than being a jerk about your car being better. Jag = Class

A few years ago, I got rear ended at a redlight by two highschool kids in a Camaro. When I climbed out of the car they came toward me - yelling and calling me a bunch of filthy names. Just then, my oldest son, a 308 pound steelworker, climbed out of my car, and, calmly informed them that he was going to start sticking Camaro parts up their respective rumps. They quickly climbed back in the car and locked the doors. My car wasn't hurt, so we just drove off, and, left the disabled Camaro sitting at the light with coolant running out of it.

Standard reply to be learned by heart (my own, not Oscar Wilde's) when ignored --
"Ah, you obviously don't speak english -- sorry" You are polite, but they feel foolish.

And if it says "yes I do", the next reply is "Ah, you ARE able to speak" Still polite, still it's YOU on top.

My guess is that the other gentleman referred to in the first post would be an a-hole even without the car. Lots of clues to that effect.

There's a few of us, I bought my STR at 25. But I think I got more attention from people when I had my 300m.

Now I try to be a "christian" motorist most of the time, unless there's a beetle around. God I hate those cars.(ok so its a little childish

ever even know they existed until i was researching to get an m5 or amg.
I first learned about the S-type when I was 19 after some old lady ran hers up the rear of my grand prix when I was sitting at a red light.

The Jag is my "middle aged" car (I'm 45). I've been driving an odd assortment of Italian cars since my '20s, and one thing that was always fun about it was the mutual excitement when owners of the same marque would run into each other coming in opposite directions, and the established signals -- we wave out the window (Alfa), flash our brights (Maserati), toot our horns (Lancia), and our mechanics make espresso and smoke those bad Italian cigars with us while insisting we work on the car with them. I've only had the Jag a few weeks, but I have to say I'm not feeling the love. Yesterday I jiggled my brights at an approaching S-Type, and the owner glared at me like I was from another planet (wrong signal maybe? I probably should have waved). The Jag mechanic I've found is friendly enough, but doesn't seem the least bit interested in hearing my theories, let alone making me an espresso and smoking a cigar with me -- and sure as hell wouldn't let me past the yellow demarcation line in his shop (I didn't bother to ask, it was obvious -- his shop is too clean). I like the Jag, and I certainly wouldn't say Jag owners are A-holes -- but I have to say Im missing the comradery...

my guess is you'll find a few common-signalers in the near future, be patient. My jag dealer lets me walk the service area with him if we need a 'visual' aid. We've looked at XK boots, xj8 interiors, and I was very surprised. nowdays, insurance rates and policies dictates the liability of having customers in the 'shop area' more than anything else. One person hits their head on a lift and everyone has to stay behind 'the yellow line' as you put it.

Cigars...well, we all know how bad those are for you. lol

Maybe wear a hat and raise it in a gentlemanly manner?

Or get a driver and have them touch their peaked cap.

Yeah, clearly it's got to be something less espressive than what Italian car owners do. Maybe I'll just settle for discretely peering over my eyeglasses!

A slight nod may also be in order.
