what is the best setup for snow tires on an STR since they are staggered? What size rims would work?

As for tires, I went with 245-40's all around. My tire guy said it wouldn't be a problem, and the wear should be minimal since they are only used 4-6 months a year. Getting the correct size staggered tires is much more of a challenge, due to the rears being so wide.
I use Yokohama W*Drive's that I bought in the summer for less than $200 per tire, and they have worked excellent in the three or four snowfalls we've had so far. Other decent brands are Bridgestone's Blizzak and anything by Nokian.
As I mentioned previously, makes a world of difference. Stopping power is unbelievable, starting is not half bad considering how much power is on tap. Cornering is awesome, though 90 degree turns can be the tricky.
Turn off traction control for even more fun, since the car is actually controllable

Went to get a coffee at Dunkin Donuts Sunday morning and the entrance to the complex (strip mall) has a slight incline. Needless to say I was THAT guy that got stuck on the hill, had to make 7 cars behind me reverse onto a major road so i could get down the hill......Not fun. From now on it WILL be parked when it is snowing.

I bought a set of factory rims due to the brake size issue. A member of this forum sold them to me for a little under half of what a dealer would have charged.

Here are some quick pics I took before work. The first one is the front tire for reference to proper fit. The second through fourth show how the 245's sit on a 275 rim. It isn't actually too bad.

Great..And they are great little cars... My Mom bought her's new in 98 and it has 140k on it and the only thing wrong is a headliner that she won't let me fix! "Oh, it's fine Jeff, don't worry about it" Ugggggg
