Not trying to be a sales man here. Just passing on some valuable info i hope. Anyone thinking of doing a trans fluid job needing lifeguard6 i just purchased 12 liters from a seller on ebay named transmaxxllc for 15 dollars a liter. No minimum or max and free shipping. Just a friendly fyi. He might have lifeguard8 also. Lists it as one liter

Just be sure to use genuine Ford Motorcraft Mercon SP, and not some third-party fluid that claims to be equivalent like Valvoline MaxLife or Castrol Transmax. Those are no more equivalent to Mercon SP than they are to Lifeguard 6.
ZF Lifeguard 6 and Ford Motorcraft Mercon SP are both manufactured by Shell and aside from the red dye in Mercon SP they are chemically the same.
Cheers,
Don

Yes, the third fluid we know to be correct for the ZF 6HP26 is Shell Spirax S4 ATF MSP, but I have never seen it offered for sale in the U.S., so after paying dearly for ZF Lifeguard 6 for my first fluid change, I have since used Ford Motorcraft Mercon SP since it is widely available in the U.S. and less than half the cost of Lifeguard 6.

Like everything else, the price of Mercon SP has gone up. I generally price-shop the local Ford dealership, Advance Auto Parts store, Amazon, and eBay sellers. I can usually find it for $10.00 to $11.00 per quart in a case of 12 quarts. Lifeguard 6 is typically about $25.00 per quart, though you can sometimes find it for less.
