The only way to release the sleeve is to have the filter pan removed ! And the only way to acsess the matronics unit is from in side the trans .
So wilst doing the filter fluid change is the perfect time for any machronics related work , or you'll be doing it twice .
I'm guessing you mean the oil pump to machronics seal ? I don't often see posts of the machronics being removed for servicing , what is the symptoms in which cause the need to ?

I think it'll be the one on page 5 here http://www.thectsc.com/images/pdf/th...eplacement.pdf

I'm not sure I'd go that far during a fluid change.

I am having the sump filter and sleeve replaced next week and was wondering if it was a good idea to have the mechtronic unit seal replaced while the sump and sleeve were being done as that is another rubber item that could perish with age was wondering if it was in a location easily accessable while the sleeve and sump were being done just looked at the diagram looks like the actual mechtronic unit would have to be removed so maybe not just heard that while having the transmission serviced it was good to any seals changed at the same time

No worries.

They don't fail often but the cars are all getting old so I suppose more will turn out bad as time goes on. Wear of the moving parts, leaking seals, etc.

Main thing is probably to change the parts (incl. oil) that are usually changed.
