Car engined stalled while driving at 50 mph
Driving the 03 X-type today going down the road @ 50 and the engine died. Tried to restart to no avail. (The car did it last year as well once and the year before, once.) As I was sitting, attempting to start the car a guy pulled over and asked what the problem was. He had a can of starting fluid and we shot a little down the intake. Car started right up and then died. So it's a fuel related issue. After 15 minutes the car started right up and I drove it home, no problems. Car had 1/2 tank of fuel. Car has 65,000 miles on it and is garage kept.
When I got home I used a scanner and got the code P1111. Above the code it said:
" Intake Air Temperature Sensor"
"Circuit Intermittent high voltage".
So I'm assuming the IAT Sensor is bad?
Thanks, Chris

Search forum and see P1 codes are NON-generic. You have the wrong meaning, one for a very different car.
P1111 is a pending code saying all is well.
Your fault is something the car isn't sure about such as a failing fuel pump or blocked fuel filter.
BTW one member had the car cut out due to a knee knocking the key!

" Intake Air Temperature Sensor"
"Circuit Intermittent high voltage".
So you believe it's still wrong? If so maybe I won't replace the AIT, I'll drop it off at the dealer.

The computer reads the code P1111 and then asks which make of vehicle. When I type in "Jaguar" then it pops up with:
" Intake Air Temperature Sensor"
"Circuit Intermittent high voltage".

Are you sure the code isn't P0111 instead of P1111? P0111 could have something to do with the IAT. If it is P1111 that means all the systems that are monitored met their drive cycle criteria. In other words, everything is just fine. Did your check engine light ever go on? If it was P0111 unless it occurred on two consecutive trips the check engine light would not come on. If it was an intermittent issue it would be P1000 until all the drive cycles were met and then P1111 would come up. Do you have any stored codes? If so, clear them out and see if anything comes back.

You have the WRONG MEANING - how many times does this need saying?????
NEVER EVER TRUST THAT THING YOU ARE USING!!

You were wrong.

The dealer believes it was triggered when the water pump was replaced or a loose connection. The stalling issue they could not replicate but they believe it is a bad fuel pump. So we will replace it. In fairness to Jag V8 the AIT did not cause the stalling issue.
