Default Battery set up

More noobifcations-I was admiring my battery while swapping out the negative cable today when I realized it's not tied down. There's this nifty black plastic rectangle and some sort of metal rod tie down in the trunk. I cannot find a visual on the battery setup-any tips on what goes where? nd this Exide has a stamp of 08-16, maybe an expiration date? It's a nice AGM battery.

And while were looking at junk in trunk, is this dangling loom kosher-I think not.

Jeff, the bar should tie your battery down. The black bar should bolt down into the front, center of the battery box and the other end should bolt into the body (near where your neg cable is bolted to the body)

The square plastic rectangle is a front licence plate holder.

The dangling loom is probably for accessories (like NAV or CD changer) its kosher as the looms are foam wrapped from the factory, your fine...

What year is your car?

PS - that battery looks tired...lol

CATS is 'sport' option? The ride is fairly stiff with almost too much road feedback-every little pebble through the seat. It has the 17" wheels. And I'm missing some sort of cover for that loom I imagine.

And it's an 07.

c.a.t.s is computer active technology suspension , and is an option , not always fitted,
electronically controlled shock absorbers ! you can check to see if your front shocks have wiring going to the top of them in the eng bay !
some one may have up rated your shocks to firmer but doubt it at that milage!
no that is how jaguar leaves unused plugs all over the car ! very normal.

So no CATS on this cat, like the XJ has sadly. And certainly not the 92y.o. owners bolting on Bilsteins...!

No easy way to add CATS either, I imagine, even though the wiring's there.

If the vehicle does not have CATS, you can use aftermarket dampers without a problem. Other brands, without electronic controls can be used if the control module is unplugged.
