I have the Skene mount arriving today and I'll "mock" fit it to my 2010XFR and post a photo here for you - I suspect it will look like the "stock position" with the advantage of the holes being on the unseen underside of the bumper. I think my dislike of the tow hook fitting (apart from the slight ricer mod feel) is that they stick out from the bumper line on the wheel side meaning I'm sure I would be scraping shins on it and cursing when I wasn't paying attention ;-)

Maybe we could get one of those change.org petitions going to ratify a Euro front plate (not just Jags but all the other Euro wagons too) ? Oh wait, I live in Texas....they're automatically going to nix anything at a federal level ;-)

So I think for now I'm just going to be uncompliant....

I would appreciate it! If you can take a photo of both all the way up and all the way down it would give me an idea of the flexibility of positions too.

And I love the mock ups you did for the Euro plates. Just don't understand why it's not possible.

I got the towhook plate holder for 40$ on ebay. couple of issues with it are the backside is too close to the bumper (no real fix, used some extra plastic washers that came extra from a projector mount). It gets loose over time and is easily turnable (i have fixed it by over tightening with the same plastic washers as above). If you have the parking assist the position has to be spot on like i have, else it beeps all the time when in reverse.(took me a good hour to get to the sweetspot as the bracket moves in all directions)

The one I'm looking at costs more but has multiple mounting locations for the plate and a cup joint to allow for a fair amount of adjustability. As far as the main bolt getting loose, I am planning on some Locktite blue.

I am curious about how the Skene product looks mounted. That will help me make my decision. How do you like the non-symmetric look? Or maybe a better way to ask is whether you like it more or less than when you first put it on?

OK, here's the Skene holder with the license plate at the two extremes of travel. I'd probably go with the topmost as it clears all the grilles and the parking sensor and the ACC module. It's only held on with sticky tape so please excuse the tilt ;-)

For the very little time I had to wait to see the pics, you're excused for the tilt. Thanks for getting these up so fast.

Do they feel like quality pieces?

It seems like a well thought out kit - for example they provide the right size drill bit for the self tappers, alcohol wipes for the underside of the bumper so that the 3M adhesive pads get a good grip during the installation and a couple of little rubber feet to back the frame so that it won't scrape the front of the bumper during normal use/vibration. Those are all the little touches that I like to see. I'm not at all unhappy with the purchase. Heck I may even install it properly ;-) Note that I don't use a plate frame and like the blended look (its actually a silver background plate option to try and match the car) and its certainly a far cry from the usual lump of black plastic that you are expected to coach bolt to your front end. I guess you could get it painted to match the body but why....

Personally I think the offset of the tow hook plate holders is what probably stirs some latent OCD. But that's just me. You pays your money and you makes your choice as they say.

This is what I like about forums. Someone does the same exhaust mod I did because someone else posted it before me. Never would have known to do what I did without it. And my positive experience influences others.

Been putting off the respray as I wasn't totally sold on the tow hook option and this reappears and now looks like the frontrunner...and it's cheaper! Thanks for trail blazing.

In CT it's a law but I didn't use a front plate because I didn't want to ruin my bumper...until I got pulled over 1 night by the local police! Now it's on....

I tried not to laugh once when the state trooper who pulled me over said that as I had gone to the expense of a personal plate I wasn't getting the full value by not displaying the one on the front ;-)
