Brake resevoir cap assembly

Brake resevoir cap assembly
Today, installing new plugs, I broke one of the rubber hoses to the master cylinder. Having only driven the car around the block couple of times in the last 18 months, it never occurred to me to open the reservoir and look inside - OMG, what a crystalized slurry ! There is a cylinder under the cap that has been eaten up and I need to replace it. Can anyone help me with a diagram and part numbers ? (this is my 73 xj6). I think I'll be replacing brake lines, too - scary stuff !! I did see, on ebay, an OEM cap assy #C45055, but couldn't determine if it's correct yr or what's in the package. Thanks much, Jim

I'm pretty sure there are two different resivoirs available for the series 1.(depending on your cars serial number). If your car is a series 2 it may be different again. I think from memory I may have sent you some series 1 parts,or looked into it at least.
I will get my wife to take some pics of the parts book and email them to me.
Will post pics later today.

I was there on my 21st birthday and retain wonderful memories of both trips.
Thanks again for the diagrams !

I think that part number was superseded a few times along the way..
I have CAC4578 which should be the same part.
I don't have the cap for it, but do have the housing and filter as New Old Stock.
Perfectly solid, new assembly..

I had trouble locating a cap for mine, eventually found one when I went to buy tail light lenses from a local add. The guy had one sitting on his workbench.
This is the only cap I found tonight in a 1/2 hour search, but it comes with the complete resevoir.
