I was actually thinking the opposite...while they don't look terrible, they didn't take the time to wire brush them. Should be the same color as base metal all the way around once brushed, if the heat and everything was right. Once it's cooled down after welding though, it's tough to get all the color out with the brush. But hey, I fit/weld stainless steel and other exotics for my job everyday.

B. In 1000 miles those pipes are gonna be discolored anyways for the heat.

Not a huge deal, I just nit pick stuff like that because I do it. Just like a guy who does body work for a living can pinpoint the most minor detail the rest of us would never see.

Nobody sees the pipe welds I make up in the rack either (well, maybe the x-ray guy or the qc), but I still brush every one of my welds.
