Default Jag hood ornament interchangabiltiy

Hi everyone! I joined this forum awhile ago when I first started looking for an XJR and I'm happy to say that I just returned home with my new to me, 2000 XJR, in the proper colour, green!

Unfortunately one of the small flaws the car has is that the leaping cat hood ornament had been stolen. I've been looking on ebay and see many for sale of S and X and even one from an xj6, but not for the x308 XJs.

What is the interchangeability between of the leapers between models? The S and X type one look identical but will the work on my XJ? The base is still intact so maybe could I just use the cat itself off another model?

Please let me know, and I'm exited to join the ranks of Jag owners!

I looked up the part numbers and they are different for the X and S Type versus the X308. You can go to jagbits.com and use their parts inquiry. Dan will return your email promptly. It looks to be about $90.00 from them.

So I guess different part numbers would imply they aren't interchangeable. Too bad, they look so damn similar that I thought they might work for me. Oh well.
I already had another member PM about a leaper off his donor car, so I may not need to search any further anyway. I guess I should have just looked here first.

Check a local yard that may have the leaper. LA ought to have a few yards with some still on the hood.

There's a pick n pull in San Jose here that I know had 2 xj8s 3 weeks ago that had leapers. I will check again this weekend as I need sunroof parts.

Thanks guys, but I've actually sourced one from a member on here already. Still a few spare leapers wouldnt be a bad thing to have.
