What did you do to or buy for your XJ-S/XJS today?

THEY INCREASE MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE LOVELY ENGINEERING MYSTERY THAT IS THE V12 AND JAGUAR XJS
a picture is worth a 1000 words.... and in my case the words would be miss-spelled...
I really would like the engineering drawings of the oil feed and circulation both by-pass and full flow .... trying to wrap my head around that....

No pics, as it disturbs a member, but I worked on my tranny today. Removed the oilpump, the rear extension and the connecting flange between prop and tranny. Time ro,seal it with some good GM parts... Haha Justbwaiting for the parts to arrive. New seals all round. The inside is being left as is, with an exeption being the filter.
Nice to,see: inside the tranny is nice and clean. No lumps of any burnt stuff etc.
Once all the seals have been done, I'll put the torque convertor back in and replave a few seals on the V12 and then it is ready to be refitted... Yay!

Last few days I finally...
- replaced windshield... URO gasket is not so good... it is one round loop without any pre-bent corners, so in the corners it does not sit tight. But because of strong metal trim around it - it looks fine, muuuch better then rear seal.
- fixed horn button on the steering wheel. The horn mechanism was shorted inside the column. PO simply cut wires and installed a button-switch (which I didn't like one bit). Ended up removing and taking apart upper column, now I understand why PO didn't fix it - it's quite a job... but now I am riding around happily honking at everything worth a honk :-)
Also cut off old stinky leather off the steering wheel and gave it a good bath with Clorox... it will do for now..
here is column taken apart:

The insulation is an old anti static bag from a PCB, these are made from mylar and are strong. The sleeve is a copper pipe joiner I machined out. The whole shebang is held on the inner column with heatshrink tube with adhesive inner.

It was the feed pipe to the filter, weeping at the connection, enough to leave a puddle in the bottom of the boot when running.
Put another hose clip on, moved the original one up a bit and then backed it up with the 2nd one.
Didn't get a chance to drive it as got called back to work cover for sickness (for '24 hours', or in our company speak, 2 weeks).
Still, the car will be sat there with the windows slightly open ventilating nicely for the next fortnight.

Aight, the tranny is now basically oil sealed! It shouldn't leak now for at least another 25 years... Hopefully
So, I replaced the rear seal, the rear stub shaft housing seal, the sump gasket, the front dip stick plug and the oil pump seals (surrounding ring, paper gasket and front seal). So the tranny is now basically sorted. Loads of pictures but I'll keep it to a minimum and link the album on Flickr

I just installed hood struts. Spent the weekend putting a new waterpump in the '78 f150 and then I noticed my hood struts had been delivered Friday afternoon and I hadn't seen them. Popped em on and BAM! It went from get the wonky pole to hold up the hood to x-wing canopy cool!
Truck is fixed. Don't care. Got easy-open hood! Best fix yet.

I was having intermittent stalling on my ' 94 AJ6 (135k+ miles) - low speeds, reverse, on hard stops, bottom of hills, etc.
So I figured the first possible culprit was the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). Ordered a new one on eBay for $25.
Installed it this morning, took it for a nice drive.
Works perfect! No stalling. Glad it was the first thing I tried.
