Default While getting my oil changed - I test drove a new XF

All I can say is 'wow'...what a car! This XF has a Polaris white exterior with a Light Oyster interior. Leather, aluminum and wood dash...the cool rising rotary shift knob and air vents doors that swing open upon start up. The center screen was razor sharp with lots of relevant information on hand. The ride was superb. Extremely responsive and able to soak up the potholes with no issues. The engine was strong and had really good torque. This is really a beautiful car that anybody would be proud to own. Definitely on my bucket list. Two thumbs up!

Note* the oil change was $160 bucks and I only change it once a year.

My bad. I think it was a 2015 XF. Hence the old steering wheel. Awesome car still.

$160 for an oil change? Seems high. I paid $130 at Reedman 2 months ago. Maybe it was a hidden test drive fee, LOL.

$130 and $160 both seem low are they using full synthetic oil

that price seems about right for the US. The oil is @$5-6 x 5 quarts, filter @$20. total parts @ $55 takes them @15 - 20 mins using the suction method. Indi's using synthetic also charge close to that... they want you in there to get you for other stuff (think "loss leader") that's why so many advertise cheap oil changes.

As a few have found here though if you're paying for synthetic oil WATCH them to assure that's what is going in.

I don't have any larger perspective on this. What has been your experience?

In the US that is just about right for a dealer cost. The oil and filter are usually around $80 if you DIY (not sure how much this car even holds, assuming 8/9????).

My previous BMW which took synthetic and 9 quarts had a dealer cost of around $135, every once and a while they had a special for $90.

As far as the XF, I had a 2016 as a loaner for a week earlier this year. I was not impressed with the interior one bit which was echoed in the XF section of this board. It seems previous owners find that Jaguar dummied down the interior in 2016 but made it more performance oriented. I did enjoy the performance though, it was all and all a very nice sedan.

In Australia the correct oil alone would set you back $70-75 plus a filter for another $10-15 so parts alone $90

FYI, Autohausaz.com has the filter for cheaper even with shipping. Usually I have enough other stuff to buy that I end up with free shipping.

This has been my go-to vendor for filters/parts for 15 years.

My 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition....$40.00 for oil at Walmart.......$15.00 for K&N Filter via Amazon........$27.00 labor for the change......$82.00 local.

The 2007 to 2009 is like any normal car, lift the car or drive over a pit, remove plastic bottom shield, remove oil drain plug, unscrew oil filter, replace drain plug, fill oil, install new filter, drive away.

Pretty reasonable vs any Jaguar Dealer, same service, same synthetic oil, and top of the line filter. Out the bay door in 30 minutes or less.

Hard to beat.

Along with the oil change I also get a free multi-point inspection where they generate a computer print out with two columns> pass or fail. I find this to be very helpful to keep my car in top shape. The last time it was done they caught a couple of items that were not expensive to fix but could have become expensive. I don't have the tools, the technology, the knowledge or a lift to do a proper inspection myself, so for me this is a valuable service. So for $160, I get an oil change and a full inspection. Money well spent as far as I am concerned.

I've had my 2015 XF since April and just love it. Last year of the x250 body, hands down gorgeous to my eye...

Sounds good to me, as long as they are not using this inspection simply to generate business that isn't "ripe". I have seen this approach at some dealers and shops.
