Default New cell phone holder

I found this little gem on Amazon, thought I would share as for me this is the best solution I have found. (I like using Waze on trips)

Small thumb screw tamps it down in the CD slot, requires that you affix a thin metal plate either on the back of the phone or I put it on the inside of my thin clear case. CD's will play when the holder is inserted, obviously would need to remove it to load or eject.

I have one of those. IMHO not useful in the jag. It blocks buttons for the climate etc. when you have a phone installed, as you can see from the picture in the OP. In addition, you have to affix a small, thin metal plate to the rear of the phone, as the mounting of the phone to the holder is magnetic. In my case it severely degraded RF performance (BT/GPS/Cellular) to the point that I junked it. It also doesn't look all that good mounted directly to the phone and if you have the phone in a case/sleeve (for protection), the magnetic attach is marginal at best. Finally the thumbscrew also just gets in the way. I really wanted it to work when I first purchased it but there were just too many gotchas....

I love the Kenu Airframe, but for it to be useful in the jag you have to turn off the rotating vent feature (gimmick anyway IMHO). Like all vent mounts, it does block some of the airflow.

I am trialing this vent mount for travel https://www.amazon.com/Ztylus-Vent-C...ews/B01DAE3GE4. I don't leave the clip attached to the phone as it makes it too bulky. Jury's still out on this one....

The metal plate can also affect wireless charging for newer phones. Manufacturer states you need to remove to charge, which is next to useless from a convenience perspective.

I looked at this style when I was picking my holder for my Cherokee SRT, but decided against it when I read the fine print.

I have an iPhone 6 and can say I have not observed any interference issue at all from the thin metal strip affixed to the inside of the case although I can see how this would interfere with inductive charging phones.

The eco and hazard buttons are blocked when the phone is mounted but this has not been an issue for me since the phone pops on and off so easily on the magnet. The head of the mount is movable so you can find whatever angle works best.

To each there own, I have tried a bunch of mounting options and for me this mount works well

u don't need those mounting holders or crap. best option nano suction iPhone cover. Stick back of your phone to your veneer trim. I paid $5 for the cover.

Don't be fooled by these $50+ items that don't even do the job right , covering your climate and buttons is not even worth looking at. I will attach some pictures

I bought one of these for the XFR a few weeks ago: Universal Car CD Slot Phone Mount Holder Stand Cradle for Mobile Phone UL | eBay
Cheap, well made, works great, doesn't block anything, what's not to like?

Received the phone holder and installed this morning. Not using it in the XFR, but solved an issue I was having in my G35. Nice that it doesn't block my view or my air vents. And I can still manipulate the air conditioner controls around the knob. Will be replacing that though with something less obtrusive.

But in the first photo you show the phone clearly blocking or partially blocking the vent. In the second one you have the phone on the steering wheel, which is quite honestly the worst possible place in the world to have anything. An accident in that position would leave the iphone embedded in your face.

Well first of all, i took a picture on steering wheel to just show what it's capable of it sticks everywhere, not that u should put it there. Secondly, yes it does cover ur air vents if decide to put it there, but you have 3 other slots in front that could possibly do the job for u either cooling or heating. Look its not the best thing but for me i didnt want any sort of extra object to be in my car, making it look like im taxi or valet driver. Up to u if u wanna use it or not

Ah, I see. Apologies that my mind-reading capabilities were deficient, I thought your picture of a phone on the steering wheel meant that you were using it in that fashion!

I'd love to find a way to make my phone snap into the larger front cup holder/cigarette lighter. I'm going to buy an extra cup holder door from ebay and see if I can make something work so that my phone would snap onto the door and lay flat. I'm unsure if I'd want the door to still work. Obviously it wouldn't work if it was stuck to the door unless the door was modified so the phone sat into it. I don't need it tipped up toward me. Flat is fine. I have a note 4 which is fairly large so it will be a challenge.
