2015 Jag F-Type R vs. Corvette C7 GS
Good morning all,
I know I am posting this on a site where everyone will be one sided, but I really wanted to see if anyone has come from or went to the Chevy C7 Grand Sport Vette. I am SO split on the two. I know most are going to say test drive both and see which one you like but again if there are any owners or post owners I would love to hear what they say.
GS Pro's:
Removable Top
Manual Transmission
I imagine its much cheaper to maintain for its lifetime
Jag Pro's:
UNIQUE (how many R badges do you see in a month, MAYBE 1)
More power
That exhaust note tho...
PS. I'd be comparing a used 2015 Jag F-Type R (RWD). They are relatively the same price. Not to mention I prefer the RWD

Well there are nice '15 R low mileage examples in the high 60s now. My vote is the R if nothing more than financial reasons.
It has already taken its biggest, initial depreciation hit. Depreciation costs will continue for the next 2-3 years at a pretty high rate, $700 or so per month.
A NEW Vette will, just like an F-Type, hit you hard $ wise out of the gate.
Otherwise - The RWD F-type R .... it simply doesn't get better than that this side of $75k.
Vettes are great cars but there are so, so many of them out there. Better to have a little exclusivity.

I wouldn't state that everyone and their brother has a Corvette. Actually pretty low production numbers in overall car sales.
Final 2015 Corvette Production Statistics - Corvette: Sales, News & Lifestyle
I believe that Jaguar would love to sell more F-types, (perhaps 6000-7000 of all models total in 2015? Around 300 or so of the top end Supercharged 575HP SVR models? - Automatic only!)
Since Jaguar sales are so low for the F-type it just seems like GM is selling a lot of Corvettes.
If I could find a great deal on a 2015 C7 with Z06 package and 7 speed performance manual transmission, I'd purchase it in a heartbeat. Perhaps only 3000 or so of these exist in the world and are in the same price range as the F-Type 5.0L R.

If you can swing a 2015 or 2016 Z06 you won't be disappointed. I just bought a new 2017 Z06 in October. I also have a 2016 F Type R convertible. The two cars have their own special characteristics. The F Type is more refined and has a classier interior. The Z06 is just raw power. Both are fun to drive. I can burn a tank of fuel in the F Type just running it from 0-60 with exhaust open.
I also have a 2006 Vette convertible i bought new. I supercharged it as well. All three cars have auto trans. My knees are done shifting.

The Corvette is an awesome car and a better track car. The Z06 is a monster. The F type is a very fun car and a bit more upscale; looks, interior and image IMO. If you want a manual and don't want a V6, then the 'vette has that going for it too.
Can't go wrong either way IMO, but I'm happy with my Jag.

Corvettes seem to be common. I counted at least 9 on the highway when I was going to pickup my F-type R last weekend. I think that Corvettes are great cars for the money but I prefer the F-type. One thing about the Corvette is that it has a large fan base. They have Corvette owner clubs in most major cities. I have friends that are members and they seem to be really active.

Quick history. I used to have a FRS when they first came out. Everyone loved that car and to be honest it was a pretty good car. A blast to drive even with it's abysmal 200hp. After about two years I got rid of it and the number one reason why, it was the next thing. They were SO common. They were everywhere and with that it just became no more fun. That being said the community in AZ was AMAZING. Really good group of guys but it was time to move on.

Ha. I feel the opposite. Being in AZ, I could easily go down and get a GS. That or email the forum guys and have one shipped. They have a ton! If you are interested I can give you some vendors!

If I was leaning toward a Vette it would definitely be the Z06. They have become affordable like a lot of F-types, 6-digit cars then and now in the low 70k range. This one caught my eye - 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Z07 PKG | eBay

Interesting thread. I just joined this forum as I am also looking to decide between a C7 GS and an F type. I am leaning more toward a new Premium S, as I am more interested in comfort and performance as the cops here in S.W. Fla. are rather vigilant. and my racing days are a bit in my rear view mirror. Besides, I enjoy, "Speaking softly, and carrying a Big Stick" only. At this point in my life a both look viable right now, and I enjoy reading the comparisons from the knowledgeable (and maybe not so ?)forum members

My brother in law got an AWD R and his best friend got a GTR. The GTR is slightly more powerful and has 4 seats. However, at the end of the day, one drives a Jaguar and the other drives a Nissan.
If brand value matters, the Jaguar trumps a Chevy.
If you are for the power, go for the Corvette.
Don't intend to sound bourgeois, but this is another element of that exclusivity.
