Bye bye Standard Options!

I would have preferred a la carte options rather than bundled. I didn't want the panoramic roof or the powered hatch, for example. The former was a $1200 option the previous year, and I'd rather have the money than something I rarely use. I'd put it towards better tires. Or maybe a bottle of scotch. Who knows?
When I was car shopping I told every salesman straight off that I would be special ordering because no one would have just what I wanted and I was willing to wait for what I did want. BMW was the only place where I was informed that a particular model would be a premium over MSRP. Amusingly, that was the model featured in the video clip made just a few miles from home, and became world famous on Jalopnik as bad driving benchmark.

I wanted 911 stripper and dealer gave me a run-around when I tried to order one. 15-20K in options appears to be the norm. This is how I ended with F-type.

I walked into a Porsche dealer and the salesman didn't even bother to look up from his cell phone. He asked what I wanted, then gestured across the showroom when I answered. I hope it was a personal record for Angry Birds or sexting with a supermodel, because I will never buy a car from him.

I wondered that as well. On a positive note that will make our IRR cars more unique. People love the color when they see my car.

I am curious how the weaker GBP is affecting Jaguar's business. I'm sure it has to somehow!
Seems strange that Jaguar is getting rid of standard options. Usually when a product is getting further along in its product life cycle, more features are standard!

I am no economist, but I would be surprised if Jaguar gets all its materials from within the UK. Perhaps now they have to pay more for foreign materials and that impacts them?

I like the look of the current and the R-Dynamic fascias.
Leave it to JLR to confuse everyone and manufacture 3 separate front ends for one model (F Type and R-Dynamic being the same, minus the gloss black insert).
And while I understand the the technological advantages of LED headlights, I like the look of the current bi-xenons better. To me, the ribbed area on the top of the new headlight casing looks like an afterthought used to fill excess space. It detracts from the overall aesthetic.

At this point, a base model F-TYPE seems to be the bargain. I couldn't justify spending another $12,000 to get the "S" just for the limited slip differential. 2018MY addresses my issues with pre-2018MY cars.
-The new "sports" seats look light years ahead better; eliminating need for the "performance" seats.
-Metal roof reduces weight of the glass roof
-Rear view camera is now standard
-Torque vectoring addresses lack of rear differential
-Active Exhaust is now standard. Switchable Active Exhaust is a $250 option
I priced it out...it comes out to less than $70,000 for a base coupe before fees. Spend some money on a VelocityAP tune and KW adjustable coilovers for suspension, I'd say you come pretty damn close if not surpass the performance of the "S" (R-Dynamic) or even the Sport 400 for less than $75000.

Right you can build a new one on the UK site but it never works to just do a currency conversion; everything is priced differently for NA models. From last year, I seem to remember USA pricing was out before the end of this month because I was trying to decide whether to order or take a 2016.
